The Compartments

Huntstown Wood is divided up into seven compartments to make it easier to manage the trees, etc.

Overview

The image opposite shows the compartment layout and the compartment numbers.

The compartments are numbered, and named, in a clockwise direction from the south west corner.

Compartment 1

"Carl's Copse" covers an area in the south west corner and abuts the western boundary.

Compartment 2

"Leon's Lair" covers an area in the north west corner and abuts the western and northern boundaries.

Tree species:

Compartment 3

"Luke's Laze" covers an area in the north east corner and abuts the stream to the north.

"The Pixie's Patch" covers an area on the eastern boundary and contains an open area.

Tree species:

Compartment 5

"Michael's Mire" covers an area in south east corner and abuts the eastern boundary.

Compartment 6

"Hannah's Hollow" covers an area off the southern boundary.

Tree species:

Compartment 7

"Alan's Arboretum" is the compartment with the shortest section connecting it to any boundary; at its southern point.
