From Launceston, proceed towards Holsworthy along the A388. After approximately 2.5 miles turn right signposted Thorne Moor and Broadwoodwidger. NB: the junction comes on you quite quickly as it lies just over the brow of a hill. If you reach the village of St Giles on the Heath you have gone too far!
Proceed for a further 2 miles and turn left (signposted Emsworthy), just before entering the hamlet of Cross Green. Proceed along this road for approximately half a mile and the track leading to the woodland will be found on the right hand side.
The track, though rough, is firm and can be driven. The entrance to 'Huntstown Wood' will be found 100 yards along the track on the left hand side. The track, beyond this point, is private.
Please either park on the hardstanding within 'Huntstown Wood' or at the entrance to the track.

Vehicle satellite navigation systems have been improved over the years but, by using a good map, a more direct route can be found to get to the wood though these can be along twisty and narrow lanes. There is, for example, a road under the A30 between 'Stone' and 'Cross Green' which some satellite navigation systems ignore.
Below are two more direct routes for visitors travelling from Tavistock (Drakes Statue); the easier one goes via Chillaton, the second bypasses Chillaton but the road / lane used is more likely to have farm traffic on it.
NB: The narrow lane between Old Tinhay and the A30 bridge can be wet, muddy and, after prolonged rain, flooded.
