Situated between the hamlets of Emsworthy and Cross Green in the Torridge area of Devon, 'Huntstown Wood' is approximately 6 acres (2.4 hectares) in area. There is a boundary ride and a number of rides and clearings throughout the young wood which allows easy access for enjoying the woodland: the north bank of the stream forms the northern boundary.

'Huntstown Wood' was planted as part of a woodland expanse of approximately 50 acres in total which, when planted, was entered into the Woodland Grant Scheme and the Farm Woodland Premium Scheme run by the Forestry Commission.

'Huntstown Wood' is predominantly a broadleaf wood with most of the trees being a mix of the following:

• Oak
• Ash
• Alder
• Silver Birch

In addition areas of woody shrubs were planted which include:

• Hazel
• Guelder Rose
• Sallow
• Dogwood
• Willow
